Getting spooky in Pennsylvania

The borough is going all out to prepare for the Halloween season.

STROUDSBURG, Pa. — From creepy spiders in cobwebs to giant skeletons, downtown Stroudsburg has transformed into Spooky Stroudsburg.

"It's such a theatrical festive fun thing you can go for the super creepy or the fun and crazy; it brings a lot of creativity out into the community," said Trudyann Buckley, Stroud Region Open Space Manager.

Stroud Region Open Space Manager Trudyann Buckley says this year's spooky Stroudsburg scavenger hunt is in full swing.

There are clues at ten different businesses. You'll find the first one at Earthlight on Ann Street.

"We are trying to solve a mystery about who stole grandma's pumpkin pie, so around the local businesses, you'll find the answer. It's some sort of monster, and you have to figure out what kind of monster so we can "set a trap for it," said Buckley.

Other businesses participating in the hunt, like the Potting Shed, are already seeing an influx of people.

"It's fabulous you see people pull up in their cars; they run up, take their pictures and, figure it out, jump back in, and it's so wonderful to see families walking around when it's a warm day with the kids," said Judy Henry, The Potting Shed Manager.

With all of the clues scattered throughout the downtown, it not only gives people a chance to check out the decorations but also check out the businesses.

"With the economy the way it is, it's really refreshing to see people walking the streets with the kids, with the family, even just a couple together. So they're doing an incredible job pulling people in and giving them something to do and a reason to come downtown," said Henry.

Spooky Stroudsburg leads up to the big Halloween event on Courthouse Square on Saturday, October 26th.
