Escape artist Danny Zzzz encourages people to step outside their comfort zone

Danny Zzzz is a professional escape artist known for his skills in hypnosis, illusion and escape artistry. He also advocates for trying new experiences.

YORK, Pa. — Entertainer Danny Zzzz is more than just a performer who manages to escape death time and time again.

He also is a stringent advocate who encourages people to get out there and live their lives without fear holding them back. His own life is a perfect example of what he strives to teach, from growing through tragedy to, in his words, "accidentally" becoming an escape artist.

"I would like to tell you I am brave; I'm not brave," Zzzz said. "It's so scary pushing yourself and trying to do something that perhaps you've never done before. And that's really what it is for me, pushing myself beyond the things that prevent me from being the best version of myself."

One of his best-known tricks is from when he was blindfolded, shackled and locked in a wooden box that was hoisted hundreds of feet in the air and set on fire while performing on the TV show "America's Got Talent."

Pushing yourself is the theme of Zzzz's new book, "Beyond Impossible: Life Lessons From A Professional Escape Artist." He says hopes the writing helps readers realize that the only force holding them back from being the best version of themselves is themselves, and putting yourself outside your comfort zone and trying something new is essential to life.

"So whatever is holding you back, take that step," Zzzz said.

The author and entertainer says has been through a lot to learn that lesson for himself, including a motorcycle crash that left him injured and the death of his son.

Now, he strives to brings smiles to the faces of people every day with his death-defying stunts, mind tricks and illusions. Watch the video below to see him attempt to teach the FOX43 Morning News at Nine crew how to bend a fork with their minds:
