MEMPHIS, Tenn —
What you need to know
- Hot & humid this weekend with a mix of sun and clouds
- Summertime pop-up storms possible each afternoon
- Another heat wave expected by the middle of next week
Even with isolated downpours in the forecast, abnormally dry conditions will continue across the Mid-South this weekend. Use extreme caution if you plan to use fireworks over the next few days, as there will be an elevated fire danger.
Expect a nice Friday evening with sunny skies and temperatures remaining in the 80s and 90s. There's a slight chance of a quick downpour before sunset, but tonight will be dry with lows in the mid 70s.
It'll be a hot and humid weekend with highs in the mid 90s and a mix of sun and clouds. We'll have a chance of pop-up storms each afternoon and evening, especially on Sunday. Even then, not everyone will see rain, and it won't last all day. Any downpour that can manage to pop up could be heavy with thunder and lightning.
4th of July Forecast
Much like this weekend, we'll see a mix of sun and clouds on Monday with highs in the mid 90s. Heat index values could be over 100 at times. There's a slight chance of pop-up storms in the afternoon and evening, but most areas won't see rain. Even if you do, it won't last all day and any storms will fizzle by sunset.
Rain chances go back down to basically zero for the rest of next week as another heat wave impacts the area. Highs will be back to the mid and upper 90s and could even approach 100 some days. With increasing humidity, heat index values could be near 110 by the middle of next week.
