PENNSYLVANIA, USA — Cicadas are nearly here and Pennsylvania will see billions of the bugs in a matter of days.
Experts say many of Brood X will start to hatch this weekend. The bugs come out every 17 years and with the weather getting warmer, the swarms are likely just around the corner.
"As far as I can tell there haven't been emergencies in Pennsylvania, but it's been pretty cold the last week so they might be delayed a little bit," said Dr. Michael Skvarla, assistant professor of arthropod identification. "We should start seeing them in the next few days or even a week."
The bugs don't bite, but they can be a huge nuisance.
