Former O's hit the links with the Revs to help local charities

Over 20 pairs hit the links to support the 2020 Brooks Robinson Golf Classic at Royal Manchester Golf Links.

MT WOLF, Pa. — An annual outing supporting two local charities; the York YMCA and York Little League. Fundraisers are more important than ever before with the current COVID-19 pandemic.

Former Orioles joined the York Revolution in a scrabble to help benefit those charities.

“I love playing golf so getting a chance to chat with people ... it’s a lot of fun," said Dave Johnson, former O's pitcher.

“As long as you’re playing the game of sports, and there’s competition. It can be fun ... if you’re doing well. So, today I’ve hit some really good shots today and I’m having a lot of fun," said Al Bumbry, O's Hall of Famer.

The golf tournament raised nearly $5,000.

“We’ve been very lucky at the revolution to have the support from a lot of our sponsors during these times. They could have said, hey no baseball, we’re out of here. Instead, they said we are part of this community and like the Revolution, this golf tournament is part of that community and raising money for great charities in our community. So, our sponsors stuck around and we could not be more grateful to them," Doug Eppler, York Revolution Director of Marketing and Communications.
