Cedar Cliff boys and Cocalico girls pick up wins on Friday

The Eagles edged ELCO, 49-46.

CUMBERLAND COUNTY, Pa. — On the high school hardwood Friday night, Cedar Cliff back in action for the second time this week after a two week shutdown due to contract tracing.  This one just the second of a rapid fire schedule for the Colts had them face off Mifflin County.

Cedar Cliff came into this one undefeated and they didn't show much rust at all after their break.

Trenten Smith looked good knocking down mid range jumpers to give Cedar Cliff an early lead.

The Huskies did not back down though as Jace Shoemaker hit a turnaround in the lane.

Cedar Cliff though was too much in this one as Mike Armanini turned defense into offense for an easy lay in as the Colts galloped to another victory 63-22 final. Afterwards coach Tigh Savercool expressed his delight in how his kids have responded.

"I mean, obviously our first match up on Wednesday was a challenging one to return to, but it's just a matter of coming to work at practice every day and bringing intensity and the guys are doing a really good of being a good practicing team, as well as a good playing team, so it makes it a little bit easier as coaches whenever they bring intensity to practice."

Cedar Cliff will need that intensity next week with four games on the schedule.

Over in the Lanc-Leb it was a night for a crossover on the girls side between Cocalico and ELCO.

The Eagles got the early jump but this was a back and forth game all night.

ELCO had the lead at the end of three and midway through the fourth quarter when Hannah Custer decided to take over.

The Eagles leader got defensive with two steals that lead to easy buckets and then pushed out a break off a rebound for another score. Custer's six point run put Cocalico up 47-41 at that point before holding on for the 49-46 victory.
