CUMBERLAND COUNTY, Pa. — Officials say an investigation is underway after one man is dead and another injured in Cumberland County.

Around 7:30 p.m. on March 13, authorities responded to the 2200 block of Newville Rd. in West Pennsboro Township for a reported shooting.

According to State Police, when they arrived they found a man suffering from a non-life threatening gunshot wound, and had initial reports suggested that another man, 29-year-old Clarence Childs from Carlisle, was in the home and possibly armed.

At this point police set up a perimeter around the home, asked nearby residents to shelter in place, and had people avoid the area.

Police then entered the home, discovering Childs dead inside.

The scene was active until around 4:30 a.m. the following day when crews cleared the area.

Pennsylvania State Police's Troop H Major Case Team was also activated and a death investigation is ongoing.

This is a developing story. FOX43 will provide updates as they become available.
