Hershey's Chocolate World marks sweet opening with new safety protocols

The attraction opened Friday, June 5 for shopping and take-out treats.

HERSHEY, Pa. — Hershey's Chocolate World opened Friday for candy lovers. But, there are new requirements for tickets and safety protocols customers must follow if they plan to bite into the shopping and take-out treats. 

New Safety Protocols: 

- Timed Entry Passes: Hershey's Chocolate World requires a free timed entry pass for entry to the building and the grounds. The timed passes allow for two hours in the building. Guests will be asked to show their digital timed entry passes upon pulling up to the parking booths. Hershey's Chocolate World requests guests to arrive 15-30 minutes before entry time and guests are asked to bring their tickets in a digital format.

- Face masks: Hershey's Chocolate World requires guests to wear a face mask at all times. It asks guests to prepare to wear masks over their nose and mouth while on the grounds and inside their building. Safety Ambassadors will check face masks at the entrance to the parking lot. If someone is not wearing a mask, they will not be able to enter the grounds.

- Social Distancing: Guests are required to maintain a social distance of at least six feet while on the grounds and in the building. Floor markings have been added as well as signs to assists guests to maintain proper distances.

- Temperatures Screenings: All guests will undergo a temperature screening. Guests must have a temperature below 100.4 degrees Fahrenheit to enter Hershey's Chocolate World. It adds, "parties who have traveled together will be screened together. If one person has a temperature at or over 100.4 degrees Fahrenheit, the entire party will not be permitted to enter. If your first temperature screen is at or over 100.4 degrees Fahrenheit, our Safety Ambassadors will facilitate a short resting period and a rescreen."

Hershey's Chocolate World's website issues this statement "Your access to our building and grounds are contingent on following our guest safety guidelines. Our safety precautions are in place to ensure the continued health and safety of our guests, employees and our community. Hershey’s Chocolate World Attraction is private property and therefore reserves the right to prevent your entry and/or escort you off our property if you’re not willing or able to comply with our new safety requirements."

- No Dine-In Services: "Food will be open with a 'best of' take-out menu and increased safety measures"

Hershey's Chocolate World is also undergoing extensive cleaning at all hours.
