2 dead, 1 injured in Lancaster County crash

Two people were ejected from a Hyundai sedan during the crash. One passenger was pronounced dead at the scene, while the other later died from their injuries.

LANCASTER, Pa. — Update, 9:30 p.m.: According to the East Cocalico Township Police Department, officers responded to a two-vehicle crash on Tuesday, Sept. 27. A commercial truck and Hyundai sedan were involved in the incident. 

The truck was stopped on the right shoulder and the sedan was on the left shoulder of the highway when officials responded. 

Two passengers had been ejected from the sedan. One passenger was pronounced dead at the scene and the other was transported to Lancaster General Hospital where she also succumbed to her injuries. 

A third person was transported from the scene and is currently being treated at Lancaster General Hospital. 

The driver of the truck was uninjured. 

Anyone who may have witnessed the crash is asked to contact Corporal Steve Walsh of the East Cocalico Township Police Department by calling 717-336-1725. 

The investigation is ongoing and the release of the names of individuals involved is pending notification of next of kin.

 According to Lancaster County officials, all lanes have been reopened.

According to Lancaster County officials, the crash occurred on between Exit: I-76 Turnpike/PA 272 and Exit: US 322-Blue Ball on Tuesday, Sept. 27 at 2:49 p.m.

The southbound lanes are closed in the area.

The county coroner's office is responding to the scene and at least one person was transported to a local hospital.
