Two York County third graders are pursuing a plan to raise money for kids with cancer.  Their plan is panning out this weekend at the York Ice Rink.

Will Shaver and his best buddy, Andrew Guiddy put their minds together for a good cause.

Will says, “It’s a charity hockey game that raises money for Carter M. Bowman Foundation.”

Carter Bowman’s a freshman at Central York High School.  Last August he started his foundation which raises money for kids with cancer to enjoy activities while receiving treatment.  It’s an effor that hits home.

Bowman says, “Similar to the kids, I was there. I had three brain surgeries and I went to that treatment center and felt this problem and i wanted to make a solution.”

Bowman raised $25,000 for his foundation and he’s inspired by Will and Andrew’s approach to help.

He says, “I think it’s great what they’re doing and it will help, prove to them as a life lesson for their entire lives.”

Andrew says, “We get to do our passion while helping other people.”

Will says, “Since we both like hockey and since we’re friends, it would be better because two is better than one.”

The hockey event will be this Saturday, May 10th at the York Ice Rink from 5:45-6:45 pm. Any donation is welcome.
