LANCASTER, Pa. – Democratic Vice Presidential nominee Sen. Tim Kaine campaigned Tuesday evening before hundreds of supporters at the Boys & Girls Club, trying to convince voters that his running mate, Hillary Clinton, is the best choice for the nation’s economy and job creation.

“We can’t afford to get it wrong, and that’s why I’ve been saying it to people,” he said. “If you really want to just boil this election down, it comes down to one question on the economy: do you want a ‘you’re hired’ president or a ‘you’re fired’ president?”

Kaine also called out Donald Trump on his financial health, ties to foreign leaders, especially Vladimir Putin of Russia, and Trump’s refusal to release his tax returns.

“Richard Nixon released his tax returns,” Kaine said. “If you can’t come up to the ethical standard of Richard Nixon, you should not be within ten time zones of being commander-in-chief.”

This is the second time Kaine has been in central Pennsylvania. He and Clinton campaigned in Harrisburg right after the Democratic National Convention.
