YORK TOWNSHIP, Pa. -- Volunteers from four York County congregations came together to fight hunger.

Members of Temple Beth Israel, Luther Memorial Lutheran Church, St. Paul's Lutheran Church, and the Unitarian Universalist Congregation of York assembled more than 10,000 meals for the Stop Hunger Now campaign.

"The bible teaches us that we should not stand idly by while our neighbors bleed, and coming together like this is a great opportunity for us to reach out to help our worldwide neighbors," said Temple Beth Israel Rabbi Jeffrey Astrachan.

Leaders of Stop Hunger Now hope to provide more than 45 million meals and more than $9 million in medical supplies and other resources to people in need worldwide.
