Police in Harrisburg are investigating an incident of vandalism that took place after the Kipona Fest on Saturday evening.

It happened around 9:30 p.m. along 2nd and Verbeke Streets.

Police say a large group of teens were coming from the Kipona Fest, when they began to ransack several stores and damage cars along Front Street, police said.

Police also said one teenager was shot during the incident; the injuries are non-life threatening.

Police Chief Thomas Carter was a victim of the vandalism; his car was damaged during the night.

Chief Carter addressed the community on Sunday afternoon to ensure the safety at Kipona and to encourage people to come out to watch the fireworks scheduled for Sunday night.

Kipona runs all weekend long and is open from noon until 6 p.m. on Labor Day.
