HARRISBURG, Pa.–A 15-year-old boy is facing charges after he accidentally shot himself in Harrisburg on Saturday.

The unidentified teen is charged with carrying a firearm without a license and possession of a firearm by a minor. The charges were filed through the juvenile system, police said.

Officers responded to 2nd and Sayford Streets for a report of shots being fired shortly after 9:15 p.m.

Investigators found the teen with a self-inflicted gunshot wound to his leg. The boy told police he accidentally shot himself, but refused to tell them where he got the gun or what happened to the gun. The teen’s injuries were not life threatening.

The gun has not yet been recovered.
