QUARRYVILLE, LANCASTER COUNTY, Pa. --Solanco High School was evacuated Wednesday after the school district received a bomb threat, according to a post on the district's webpage.

The high school is located along the 500 block of Solanco Road in Quarryville. Students and faculty have returned to the high school after an "all clear" was given by Pennsylvania State Police shortly before 2 p.m.

School administrators say students will be dismissed at regular time.

Pennsylvania State Police are investigating.

Superintendent, Dr. Brian Bliss, posted a letter on the school's website addressing the threat:

Dear Parent/Guardian:

Today there was general “bomb threat” note discovered at Solanco High School.  Students and staff at the high school were evacuated, police were called, and parents were notified by Solanco App, Solanco website, Solanco Facebook page, and phone notification system.

Students were evacuated by bus to Smith and Swift middle schools.

State Police conducted a search of the building and cleared students to return.  Students were returned to Solanco High School by bus.

Our procedures for student safety are very clear and direct.  I want to commend our students for their response during this situation—they were tremendous.  I also want to commend the faculty and staff for executing our safety plan and offer thanks to the police and other emergency responders.

We know how stressful events like this can be for parents.  We share this frustration and will address the situation aggressively.  We will fully investigate this matter. Please know we take all threats seriously and when we first learn of a threat our first response is student safety—evacuations, police notification, student accounting, etc.

We are grateful for your understanding and patience as we work to ensure student safety.
