FRANKLIN COUNTY, Pa. — UPDATED: A multi-vehicle crash left one person dead and several others injured in Antrim Township, Friday night.

The crash happened before 9 p.m on Molly Pitcher Highway near Interstate 81 southbound.

State Police say a 1986 Jeep Wrangler was traveling northbound on the highway when 2018 Mercedez-Benz merged into the lane behind the Wrangler and passed it on the right.

State Police say for reasons unknown, both vehicles collided with one another, lost control of their vehicles and traveled into the oncoming lane of traffic striking a 2003 Mercury Mountaineer.

According to State Police, the front passenger of the Mercedes-Benz was pronounced dead on the scene. The driver was airlifted to Hershey Medical Center with serious injuries.

The driver of the Mercury Mountaineer sustained minor injuries. A back seat passenger was injured and taken to Chambersburg Hospital, according to police.

The driver of the Jeep Wrangler was seriously injured and taken to Meritus Hospital in Hagerstown, Maryland, according to State Police.

Police have not released the name of the passenger who died on the scene.

PREVIOUSLY REPORTED: A crash has closed down Route 11 in both directions, dispatch says.

The accident is on the bridge over Interstate 81, according to dispatch.
