SOUTHAMPTON TOWNSHIP, Pa.–Beginning Monday–road work will start along a 7-mile stretch of Route 11  in Southampton Township, Cumberland County.

Crews will begin repairs along Route 11 beginning at Foltz Road to just west of Route 233 in the western part of the county.

PennDOT advises travelers that they may encounter single-lane traffic restrictions with flaggers assisting them through the work zone from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. on weekdays as crews conduct base repair and mill pavement notches in preparation for bituminous resurfacing in August. To avoid delays, travelers should allow for additional time in their plans or seek an alternate route.

Some sections of Route 11, known locally as Ritner Highway, average more than 3,500 vehicles traveled daily.

Motorists are reminded to be alert for these operations, to obey work zone signs, and to slow down when approaching and traveling through work zones, not only for their safety, but for the safety of the road crews.
