WASHINGTON, DC – President Obama has ordered federal aid to cover damage and snow removal costs of the Commonwealth and local counties hit hard by a severe winter storm January 22 – 23. The President declared a major disaster exists due to that severe storm.
Federal funding will be available for the repair or replacement of facilities damaged during the storm in Adams, Bedford, Berks, Blair, Bucks, Chester, Cumberland, Dauphin, Fayette, Franklin, Fulton, Juniata, Lancaster, Lebanon, Lehigh, Montgomery, Northampton, Perry, Philadelphia, Schuylkill, Somerset, Westmoreland, and York counties.
Federal funding is also available on a cost-sharing basis for hazard mitigation measures for all counties within the Commonwealth.
FEMA said additional designations may be made at a later date if requested by the commonwealth and warranted by the results of further damage assessments.
