SWATARA TOWNSHIP, Pa.–Police in Swatara Township are  warning the community to be on alert after a resident reported an attempted distraction burglary on Wednesday.

The woman told police that a man came to her home around 3:50 p.m., claiming to be from the water company and needed to check the water pipes. While in her home, he began to check her faucets, sinks and washing machine. After the man left–the woman contacted the water company and they denied having any technicians working in the area.

The suspect  is described as a white male, in his 50’s, with a “solid” build and was wearing white hard hat.

Residents are reminded to always ask for ID. If you are ever unsure, call the police department before letting an unknown person into your home. If you experience this type of scam or see suspicious people in your neighborhood, call police immediately.
