SPRINGETTSBURY TWP., York County, Pa. — A York County man is facing child sex abuse charges after detectives traced child pornography to his computer. Robert E. Miller III, 33, is facing several counts of felony child sex abuse and criminal use of a communication facility following a several month investigation by police.

Northern York County Regional Police received a tip last August that someone was viewing child pornography using the Tor network, software that makes it difficult to trace for internet activity back to the user. The child pornography was being viewed at 3400 Eastern Blvd in Springettsbury Township.

Detectives determined that during the early months of 2015, a user at that address accessed a website located outside the United States and viewed numerous images and videos of child pornography. Police executed a search warrant in October of 2015, siezing laptop computers, desktop computers, flash media, and loose internal hard drives from the residence. The digital material was analyzed by a forensic computer examiner. Police say they found 639 images and 431 videos of child pornography.

He is awaiting a preliminary hearing.
