CARLISLE, Pa. – Police convince a Newville man, who escaped from a court hearing and threatened to jump off the roof of a three story building in downtown Carlisle, to give up. The man was identified as 19 year old Nigel Jenkins.

Police say that Jenkins was brought into district court this morning on outstanding warrants for unpaid fines. During the hearing Jenkins became angry, flipped over a table and ran from the district justice office through an emergency exit.

With police in pursuit he ran to an apartment building in on E. Louther Street where he climbed onto the third story roof.

During negotiations with police, he ask for his mother, who was brought to the scene. At about 1:45 pm he surrendered peacefully to police.

Jenkins was taken to a local hospital for psychiatric evaluation.
