Pittsburgh — Police say a single mother was killed by an ex-boyfriend during an argument over money for diapers and baby wipes.

Marqua Wilson, 28, was shot to death in her East Hills home on Monday and Pittsburgh police have charged Markese Reese, 20, with homicide.

The Pittsburgh Post Gazette reports the Reese arrived at Wilson’s home with diapers and baby wipes and wanted to be reimbursed.  According to a witness, the two argued and after the witness took Wilson’s children to a different part of the house, a loud boom could be heard.

Reese later told police he and Wilson were struggling over the gun when it accidentally went off.

Wilson’s family told KDKA her relationship with Reese was troubled, and problems had been going on for years.

Court records show that Wilson had filed petitions for protection from abuse against Reese.

Wilson and Reese had dated since Reese was 16-years-old and they had a three-year-old daughter together.  Wilson had a total of 8 children ranging from 13-years-old to 9 months.

Wilson’s family says she was getting out of her relationship with Reese and changing her life.

They remember Wilson as a resilient mom that was an absolute joy and the funniest person.

A GoFundMe page has been set up to help with funeral and education costs for Wilson’s children.
