Pennsylvania added 19,100 jobs in June and the state’s unemployment rate held steady at 7.5 percent, according to employment statistics released today by the Pennsylvania Department of Labor & Industry. This remains the state’s lowest unemployment rate since March 2009.

“Pennsylvania has now added more than 130,000 private-sector jobs since Governor Corbett took office,” said Julia Hearthway, secretary of the Department of Labor & Industry. “Combined with an unemployment rate below that of the U.S., Pennsylvania remains on a path of continued growth.”

Over the year, June 2012 to June 2013, the unemployment rate was down five-tenths of a percentage point and the labor force was up 51,000. Employment went up 80,000 and unemployment was down 29,000.

The employment count, or the number of people working, increased by 7,000 over May’s data. Employment has increased in eight of the past 11 months.

The number of people unemployed was 490,000, matching the third lowest level in the past four years.
