The Pennsylvania Veterans Chamber of Commerce in Camp Hill, Cumberland County provides free services to veterans who are looking for jobs or medical assistance.  But they’re in jeopardy of shutting down because they don’t have all of the funds needed to stay up and running.

So a farmer from Massachusetts decided to help.  He handed over a check to keep it afloat.

New England farmer, Todd Russell shows off his cattle this week at the Farm Show Complex.  Todd’s dedication to agriculture is just as important as his patriotism.  He served in the Army from 1986 to 1994.

Todd says, “Veterans are important. That’s the safety of us being here.  Gives us the ability to do what we do.”

Which is why he donated nearly a grand to the PA Veterans Chamber of Commerce.

Todd says, “They said they were short $700 for rent.”

When he heard the news, the Russell family reached out and $700 later, the center remains open.

Todd says, “We all decided as a family, maybe we give up something a little bit to cover expense.”

Courtney Wise is the Business Development Specialist for the PAVCOC.  He says, “The best part about it is, the military values.  He still carried that even through he’s not in the service right now, he’s a veteran.  He still holds those values and felt in his heart this is something he wanted to help out with and we appreciate him.”

Todd says, “To see the expression on the folks and they were thankful to me they do a bigger job to volunteer their time like that…I just gave a check, those people deserve all the credit really.”

Courtney says to Todd, “We continue your ongoing service on the field and off as a veteran, thank you again, Todd.”
