LANCASTER COUNTY, Pa. - In 2015, more than 8 million people visited Lancaster County according to the firm Tourism Economics. The tourism generated $2.64 billion dollars and supported 25,000 jobs.

"I think people are realizing there’s a lot more to offer than just the Amish. The Amish has always been the cornerstone of our brand and it’s what we are known for but people are discovering our walkable towns and villages, our cities,  (and) downtown Lancaster," said Kathleen Frankford from Discover Lancaster.

In 2016, numbers are anticipated to be even better.

"All of the theaters have new shows this year and there’s other new attractions opening. Kreider Farms has an observation tower and we also have several downtown restaurants that will be opening this year" said Frankford.

Memorial Day weekend kicks-off the busy season.
