NEW HOLLAND, Pa.-- Three people were severely injured in a hot air balloon crash Saturday night near New Holland, Lancaster County. It happened around 8:00 p.m. on the 600-block of North Railroad Avenue.

The investigation shows that the pilot was attempting to land in a hay field. As the basket touched the ground, the top of the balloon fell onto power lines. The three people suffered injuries related to being shocked.

Police say the pilot, who is 55-years old, and his passengers, a 53-year old man and a 48-year old woman, were all taken to Lancaster General Hospital for treatment. There is no word on their conditions.

FOX43 is told the balloon is privately owned.

The Federal Aviation Administration will be conducting an investigation.
