SWATARA TOWNSHIP, Pa. – An event in Dauphin County is helping both soldiers and local police officers. Runners and walkers came out for the 5K Hero Run at the Harrisburg Mall early Sunday morning.

From Captain America to Batman, people dressed as their favorite superhero– competing for the top prize of $100.

All of it is in support of the men and women who protect our communities each day without a cape and costume.

“Law enforcement has had a tough year— year and a half as we all  know,” Swatara Township Police Chief Jason Umberger said. “It’s just great to interact with young kids it’s an important aspect of policing… building relationships with young people and our next generation so that’s something big for us here.”

Proceeds from this event will benefit COPS for KOPS, Keystone Wounded Warriors, and the Swatara Township Police Crime Prevention Fund.
