A Harrisburg woman accused of causing the death of her 11-week-old baby girl is headed to trial. Latoya Green, 19, is charged with criminal homicide, endangering the welfare of a child and reckless endangering another person.

Green admitted to Harrisburg police in a Feb. 12 interview that she injured her baby, Zai’mera Eden, on at least two occasions.

Baby Zai’mera was taken to Harrisburg Hospital on Jan. 30. The infant was diagnosed with an “inter-cerebral hemorrhage,” or bleeding in the brain, and was airlifted to teh Penn State Hershey S. Medical Center. She died five days later after being taken off of life support.

An autopsy revealed the infant suffered traumatic brain injuries and had multiple rib fractures, according to police reports. Investigators said the rib fractures were at various stages of healing, indicating that multiple incidents of abuse had taken place, possibly over at least two to three weeks.

A preliminary hearing was held Thursday for Green. A judge ruled there was enough evidence to send her to trial on the charges.

A formal arraignment is scheduled for May 27 in Dauphin County.

Green remains behind bars in Dauphin County Prison without bail.
