Death Investigation

HARRISBURG, Pa. — Police in Harrisburg are investigating the death of a man and say it is suspicious.

Around 1:30 Sunday morning, officers responded to a 911 hang up call on the 400-block of South 17th Street. When they arrived, they were flagged down by several Latino men who were speaking broken English and saying their friend wasn’t moving.

Inside the home, police were directed to the victim, an Hispanic man, possibly in his 50’s, in a second floor bedroom. The officers couldn’t find a pulse and observed swelling and bruising on his head. They called for EMS, who pronounced the victim dead at the scene.

All of the men in the house are cooperating and have told detectives that the victim fell down the steps prior to his death. An autopsy is pending.

The victim has not been positively identified yet and the investigation continues.
