Police responded to several violent robberies in the Allison Hill neighborhood of Harrisburg over the weekend.

The first call involved an 18-year-old who authorities say was held up by a man with a gun near North 15th and Derry Streets. Pennlive reports investigators used an iPhone app active on the victim’s stolen phone to link a a 31-year-old Allison Hill man to the crime.

The next was just after 2 a.m. on Saturday when an adult male victim was approached by two other men. Police say he was walking south along 2nd Street. The two men asked the victim for money. When told he didn’t have any, he was assaulted.

A third call came in Saturday before 11 p.m. Officers made their way to South 17th and Derry streets to meet with a victim who authorities say was beaten by a baseball bat and had money stolen.

A final incident was reported around 3:30 a.m. Sunday by an adult male victim who said he was threatened by a man with a gun near Derry and Dunkle streets. Police say the victim managed to flee but his car had been ransacked and several items were stolen.

In the spring, city leaders said they were taking new steps to fight crime in the capitol city. Mayor Linda Thompson launched her neighborhood safety zone initiative. Police officers have been targeting different streets and are making arrests.

As of yesterday, investigators did not have any indication that any of the robberies were related to one another. Investigations are ongoing into the three robberies.
