A Harrisburg man is arrested on multiple charges involving a pair of weekend shootings.  In the first incident patrol officers heard numerous shots fired at about 3:10 am Saturday August 11 in the area of South 14th and Cherry Streets. Arriving on the scene they found a 20 year old  man and a woman who said that two black men had shot at them, hitting the male victim in the hip. The female was unharmed.  The victim was treated at Hershey Medical Center.

In the second incident, at about 10:30 that evening, officers responded to Harrisburg Hospital’s ER for a 19 year old man who had been shot in the foot. The victim was the brother of the earlier shooting victim. He had been driving in the area of the 1300 block of Swatara Street in search of the suspect who shot his brother.  He found the shooter, who allegedly recognized him and fired at the victim’s vehicle hitting him in the foot.

One of the shooters was eventually identified as 19 year old Cornell Johnston, III.  On Tuesday, city police and members of the Dauphin County Crisis Response Team attempted to serve a warrant for Johnston at home in the 1100 block of Bailey Street.  After about an hour standoff, Johnston was taken into custody without incident.

Charges against Johnston include 2 counts of Criminal Attempted Homicide, 3 counts of Aggravated Assault, 2 counts of Recklessly Endangering, Robbery, Carrying a Firearm without a License and Conspiracy.  Police say their investigation continues. Anyone having information on the case is asked Detective Christopher Krokos at (717) 255-3184.
