HARRISBURG, Pa. – Police are on the lookout for a suspect in the brutal beating of Harrisburg man with an aluminum baseball bat. It happened at about 1:30PM Tuesday afternoon in the 1500 block of  Derry Street.  The initial report was that the incident was a stabbing.

When police arrived on the scene they found a 36 year old hispanic male inside the Cross Road Baptist Church being treated by church members. The victim was found not to be suffering from a stab wound but multiple injuries from an assault with an aluminum bat.

The victim told police that the assault took place inside his apartment on the 1500 block Derry Street.

The victim said that he lived in the apartment with the suspect, Luis Manuel-Soto, and additional family members.  Manuel-Soto, allegedly instigated an argument that escalated in him retrieving an aluminum bat and striking the victim multiple times with it.  The victim was able to flee from the apartment and run to the church where he was found by church members.

The victim suffered injuries to his head, a possible compound fracture to his right forearm and possible broken fingers in his right hand.  He was transported to Harrisburg Hospital for treatment.
