Dauphin County, PA- After being convicted of robbery and other charges, a Harrisburg man  jumps across a courtroom table and attacks the detective in charge of the case.

According to the Dauphin County District Attorneys office, on Friday after deliberating for nearly six hours, a jury found Alex Pettis, 25,  guilty of a May 2014 robbery at the Hollywood Hotel in Lower Swatara township.

Shortly after hearing the verdict, Pettis lunged across the courtroom table and tackled the arresting Lower Swatara Detective to the ground.

While tussling on the ground, Pettis punched, and attempted to choke the detective while several of Pettis family members stormed the scene and also started fighting the sheriffs, officials said.

After a brief time of struggling, Pettis and the family was put under control and Pettis was taken off to Dauphin County Prison.

Pettis is scheduled  to be sentenced for the robbery conviction in Febuary 2016/ He now faces charged of witness intimidation and aggravated assault after the court incident.

The District Attorney’s office says if convicted Pettis faces up to 29 years in prison.

Pettis is currently in Dauphin County Prison on a $250,000 cash bail.
