Wolf signs ABLE Act

DERRY TOWNSHIP, Pa.–Governor Wolf, joined by Senator Bob Casey, signed the “Achieving A Better Life Experience” act, otherwise known as “ABLE.”

The lawmakers met at the Vista School in Derry Township, Dauphin County. The act allows people to set aside money for future costs related to a disability of a beneficiary, by creating tax-free savings accounts for people with disabilities.

Senator Casey says, “It will allow families the peace of mind to know that when they can’t directly take care of someone that they love who has a disability that there’s an account that that individual has that can pay for the services.”

The legislation signed by Governor Wolf will allow Pennsylvania families to soon open ABLE, which became available to states when Senator Casey spearheaded the legislation through Congress in 2014.
