HARRISBURG, PA(WPMT) Former GOP state senator Jane Orie, already under investigation for misconduct, is no longer able to practice law in Pennsylvania.

The former state senate whip, was convicted in March 2012 of 14 counts of Conflict of Interest, Theft of Services,  Forgery, Perjury and Tampering with Evidence for using her state paid staff for campaign work.  She was sentenced to two and a half to 10 years in state prison but was released last February.  An appeal of her conviction was denied.

Orie submitted her resignation from the Bar of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania on October 28.  Her resignation was accepted today and she was disbarred by the State Supreme Court retroactive to May 2012 when she resigned from the state senate.  She had been practicing law since 1987.
