A first ever event was held on City Island in Harrisburg on Saturday. A flea market mash up was organized as a way to raise money for an important local emergency service.
Harrisburg River Rescue lost its building a while ago and this event was a way to help raise money for the organization.
Customers could buy treasures from local folks, who were just getting rid of their old trash, or they could purchase arts and crafts. A number of food trucks were also there for the crowd to enjoy.
“This is about highlighting the city of Harrisburg, highlighting the river, highlighting City Island and highlighting Harrisburg River Rescue and also just have fun, right just have fun,” says Tara Leo Auchey, an organizer of the event.
Harrisburg River Rescue is a non-profit, volunteer organization, that provides water rescue and emergency services in the South Central Pennsylvania area.
