LANCASTER, Pa.– An Ephrata man is set to serve at least 15 years in jail for recording females in fitting rooms in Lancaster and three surrounding counties.

Matthew Hummel, 36, will serve 15 to 30 years in state prison, followed by 20 years of probation according to his plea agreement. He pleaded guilty to 24 charges regarding similar acts that occurred last year in Lancaster, Berks, Cumberland and York counties. Now, he must register his whereabouts with police, in accordance with Megan’s Law.

Hummel was on probation for past convictions of similar crimes after being caught last year filming a woman in a fitting room at the Old Navy located on 1700 Fruitville Pike.

At Old Navy in November of 2015, the victim, who was partially undressed, noticed that an iPod was recording her by a partition of rooms. She screamed, and a male in the next room fled the store.

After surveillance and through witness accounts, it was determined that Hummel was the male who had fled.

He admitted his crimes to police, telling officials that he would record “upskirt” videos of females on the iPod, which he turned over to investigators.
