As the recent measles outbreak continues to grow in the United States, health officials in Central Pennsylvania want to make sure you're protected against the virus.

The Cumberland County State Health Center on the 400 block of East North Street in Carlisle is giving out free measles vaccines. This follows the PA Health Department's recent report of a possible measles exposure in Cumberland and Franklin Counties. Health officials say it's a potentially serious and highly contagious virus, but it is preventable.

"If you are an immunized individual or un-immunized family it is extremely important to come here or see your physician" Acting Physician General Dr. Rachel Levine said, "And to get protected against this potentially serious and infectious illness."

Health officials at the center have seen over a hundred people since Thursday. The center will be giving out free vaccinations until 6p.m. on Friday. Several health centers in the area offered free vaccinations this week. Tomorrow the Municipal Building at 705 Municipal Drive in Shippensburg will be giving out free vaccinations from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
