CARLISLE, Pa. – The man accused of firing two shots on June 26th in front of the Haines Stackfield American Legion located along W. Penn St. in Carlisle is in custody.   Carlisle Borough Police had an arrest warrant for Michael T. Evans for that incident\.

Today, police received information that Evans was staying with a female at 35 W. North St. in the borough. Officers surrounded the residence at 2:55 p.m. and attempted to make contact with the occupants.

A female eventually exited the residence however Evans remained inside and refused to comply with numerous officer requests. For about 80 minutes, officers repeatedly announced their presence and asked Evans to turn himself in without escalating the incident.

Due to the risk to others in the area, Cumberland County Special Response Team had been called in to safely contain the situation.

Eventually, officers searched the residence and located Evans as he attempted to hide inside. He was taken into custody and transported to Cumberland County Booking for arraignment on the warrant. No injury was sustained by officers or Evans as a result of the incident.
