LANCASTER, Pa. – A Marietta woman is sent to jail for up to 5 years for neglecting a care-dependent woman Lancaster City who died in 2013.

Stacy Ann Wallick, formerly of Alliance Home Help, was coordinator of the 24-year-old woman’s care, but neglected to assist her when an on-duty caregiver called off.  Wallick, 44, knew the caregiver called off, and it was her responsibility to find a fill-in or go to the  woman’s home herself. She did neither and the woman died of burns sustained May 4 or May 5 while alone inside her Second Street apartment.

A Lancaster County judge ordered Friday that Wallick serve one and a half years to 5 years in state prison and to never again work in health care/personal care. The victim had a degenerative disease, used a wheelchair, and relied on 24/7 care.

Lancaster County Assistant District Attorney Kevin McGarry told the judge the victim was a “vibrant woman” who wouldn’t have died with the proper care.

The victim, who has a daughter, now 3, died June 13, 2013, at a Philadelphia hospital.

Wallick pleaded guilty to involuntary manslaughter and reckless endangerment, both misdemeanors. She was also was ordered to pay $8,453 in restitution.
