A Berks County teacher, Nicole Kurowski, faces charges involving a physical and sexual relationship with a 17 year old male student at Tulpehocken High School. Kurowski is a physical education teacher and cheer leading coach at the school in Bernville. Pennsylvania State Police began investigating the case after receiving a tip.
Investigators recovered thousands of cell phone text messages and dozens of pictures that Kurowski exchanged with the student. Analysis of the messages made it apparent that Kurowski and the student engaged in conversations on a daily basis, both during and after school hours. The messages also confirmed that an indecent relationship existed. They also indicated indecent contact between Kurowski and student during school hours.
Police say repeated, “I love you” messages were exchanged. Kurowski also arranged to meet with the student at various inconspicuous locations in the county. They also made efforts to conceal their relationship while in the company of others during school hours.
Kurowski surrendered to authorities this morning. She is charged with Institutional Sexual Assault. Following arraignment she was released on $25,000 unsecured bail.
