EAST PENNSBORO TOWNSHIP, Pa. - It was like Christmas all over again for several local children thanks to the Variety Children's Charity program called, My Bike. Seven kids with disabilities from all across Central Pennsylvania received adaptive bicycles. The Capital Area Intermediate Unit hosted a presentation and parade of the bikes in East Pennsboro Township, Cumberland County.

The bikes allow kids to experience the freedom of riding with their friends and family.

The children who received the bikes ranged in age from four to 14 years-old, and came from Harrisburg, Dillsburg, Mechanicsburg, York, Seven Valleys and Mifflintown.

"The bikes are made to give stability," Variety Children's Charity CEO, Charlie Lavallee said,"kids who can't ride a typical bike can ride this because of the stability; the three wheels, the pedals are done in such a way so that they stay level so that kids with [muscle] tone issues can ride."

CAIU leaders say children with disabilities are often left out of activities, but these bikes are one way to make sure they're included.
