Police have released the identity of the man killed Saturday afternoon in a serious crash involving a tractor-trailer on Interstate-83. The crash happened at 1:15p.m. on I-83 South near the Derry Street Exit in Swatara Township, Dauphin County.
Police say Justin Kireta of Tower City, Schuylkill County lost control of his car and veered into the concrete barrier. Kireta's car then ricocheted back across the highway and hit a tractor-trailer. The car became lodged behind the first set of trailer wheels and caught fire-- igniting the truck. Kireta died at the scene of the crash.
Parts of the Interstate between Colonial Park and the Derry Street Exits had to be closed. They have since been reopened.
State police are investigating the cause of the crash.
