Booster shot appointments could soon be in high demand as the FDA is poised to take action

The FDA is expected to approve boosters for Johnson & Johnson and Moderna by the end of the month.

PENNSYLVANIA, USA — Booster shot appointments are expected to become in high demand as the FDA is poised to approve boosters for Johnson & Johnson and Moderna by the end of the month.

The FDA is expected to meet to discuss the issue this week. An advisory panel already recommended boosters of both vaccines for certain groups. Previously, the FDA has approved boosters for Pfizer.

The FDA is also expected to approve mixing and matching COVID-19 vaccines.

At the beginning of this year, vaccine supply was low as demand was high and that caused clogged phone lines and trouble getting through on websites to make vaccine appointments. This time around, experts don't expect people will face the same issues scheduling a COVID-19 booster appointment as vaccine availability has significantly increased.

The fact that the Pfizer vaccine was already approved may also help slow the rush to get vaccines as it's expected to better stagger the amount of patients coming into vaccine providers.
