Suspect arrested in Georgia after shooting at Walmart in Mooresville

The department said officers responded to the incident at a Mooresville Walmart around noon Sunday.

MOORESVILLE, N.C. — A Georgia man is now facing a charge of attempted murder after investigators say he shot a man in Mooresville at Walmart.

According to a news release from the Mooresville Police Department, evidence gathered from store, located at 169 Norman Station Blvd., was enough to obtain warrants against Robert Little Baker-Brown.

MPD say the evidence showed Baker-Brown was heading back to his home in Georgia after shooting a 27-year-old man.

He was located at his home later on Sunday and taken into custody in Forsyth County by the United States Marshal Service and Forsyth County Sheriff's Office.

Baker-Brown is being held in Georgia, pending extradition to North Carolina.

A MPD spokesperson said officers responded to the incident at the Walmart around noon Sunday.

Officers say they found the 27-year-old man with a gunshot wound to his back in the parking lot near the garden center entrance. He was taken to the hospital were officials say he is expected to make a recovery.

MPD said the investigation has reveled the shooting was not a random act, but an "isolated incident" that was caused by a "domestic violence situation" between the man and his domestic partner.

A Walmart spokesperson also provided WCNC Charlotte with statement about the incident that you can read below.

“We’re deeply disturbed by today’s incident and are hoping the victim makes a quick recovery. Customer and associate safety is our top priority, and we will continue to work closely with law enforcement to assist however we can.”

Note: WCNC instituted a new policy in March 2021 regarding the broadcast or posting of mugshots.

WCNC will only air or post a mugshot if the person has been formally charged with a crime and in a few other cases. The exceptions include: If it appears the person could be a danger to themselves or others or if they are wanted by authorities; to differentiate between people with a common name; if the photos could encourage more victims to come forward. The news-editorial leadership may also decide to use a mugshot based on the severity of the crime(s) committed and/or the level of public interest in the crime and ensuing criminal proceedings.
