The Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board has given the green light on a casino at the site of the former Sears at York Galleria Mall.
The board voted unanimously to award a license to Mountainview Thoroughbred Racing Association, LLC (Penn National) to construct a Category 4 casino, otherwise known as 'Hollywood Casino York.' The casino will create 200 permanent jobs and 260 construction jobs. It is also promising $1 million annual in new tax revenue for Springettsbury Township.
The casino plans to open with 500 slots and 24 tables. But, it will have the capacity to expand to 750 slots and 40 tables. It will also integrate a sports and race book, dining, a bar and a coffee shop.

Construction is set to be completed in 12 months with a possible opening by late 2020 or early 2021.
Mountainview Thoroughbred Racing won a $50.1 million bid during an auction back in January of 2018 that gave the company a 15-mile radius area to build a casino. The company eventually filed the application for the facility in the York Galleria Mall. A hearing was held in October of 2018 to gain public feedback.
