From futuristic features to animated adventures, TV shows are full of exciting twists and storylines.
A brand new series, produced by WGN America and Tribune Studios, is just as exciting, but instead, takes you back in time with every episode.
“Manhattan” premiered Sunday night. The show is based in the 1940’s, during World War II and the race to build the world’s first atomic bomb.
The set is in Santa Fe, New Mexico, full of dust and dirt and 40’s style props.
There is no Hollywood glitz or glamour, just hard work and cast members stepping out of their usual roles.
Rachel Brosnahan plays “Abby Isaacs” the wife of a scientist working to build the bomb.
She says, “This is different than anything I’ve ever worked, in every way, shape and form. The period, this ability to have this community that we’ve actually built here, I`ve never been able to do that really for this extensive period of time.”
Many in the cast also say this show is more relevant to present day life that you might think.
You can form your own opinions on Sunday nights; “Manhattan” airs at 9 p.m. on WGN America, be sure to check your local listings.
