PENNSYLVANIA, USA — Shaquille Omari joined FOX43 in September 2021 as a reporter.  He is a native of Trinidad and Tobago and immigrated to Brooklyn, New York at the age of 9. His passion for storytelling quickly grew as he began taking creative writing classes in middle school and wrote for his high school newspaper.

Prior to FOX43, Omari worked as a freelance reporter at News 12 Brooklyn and spent much of his career in Texas. While in the Lonestar state, he held a unique dual role as a reporter and producer at FOX44 in Waco. There, he reported on the death of Fort Hood soldier Specialist Vanessa Guillen which gained global attention. More than an hour South, Omari worked at Spectrum News Austin and San Antonio where he produced high profile breaking news stories such as the Austin serial bombings and the Santa Fe shooting.

Omari is no stranger to Harrisburg, Pa. as he interned at another station five  years prior. His other career pitstops include The Wendy Williams Show and CNN where he worked as an intern, heavily contributing to the 2016 presidential election.

Omari earned his master's degree at CUNY Graduate School of Journalism and his bachelor's at York University where he was recognized as one of 2021’s Top Changemakers Under 30. When he is not working you can find him either at the gym, a music festival, or hanging out with his family.
