HARRISBURG, DAUPHIN COUNTY -
Foster children waiting to be adopted joined the Harrisburg Senators on the field for the last game of the season. Diakon Adoption and Foster Care hosted the event at Metro Bank Park Thursday night.
About 20 kids teamed up with the baseball players, who would "play for them," and one child threw out the ceremonial first pitch of the game.
The event is designed to bring awareness of child adoption in the state. Michelle Lobaugh, of Aspers, Adams County, adopted a child. She says it's nice to have events like these to help children.
"I think it's nice that these children have an opportunity to, you know, find a family that they can get involved with, and continue on in their journey of life."
Diakon Adoption and Foster Care officials say it doesn't cost anything to adopt a child from foster care programs.
