WEST MANCHESTER TOWNSHIP, YORK COUNTY -
The Pennsylvania State Police in York and the York County DUI Task Force hold a sobriety checkpoint on Halloween night and arrested drivers for numerous violations in West Manchester Township, in the area of State Route 30 and State Route 116.
Two Drug Recognition Experts evaluated five suspected drug-impaired drivers and found four to be impaired.
"Sobriety checkpoints are operated to act as a deterrent to people who drive after consuming too much alcohol, prescription drugs or any amount of illegal drugs. The goal of the checkpoints are too apprehend those drivers who do choose to risk the safety of others by driving after consuming said substances," Pennsylvania State Police York Cpl. Brian Torkar says.
- 11 impaired drivers.
- One driver who smoked marijuana just before getting stopped.
- One driver who had previously snorted crushed prescription medicine.
- One person for driving DUI suspended with alcohol in his system.
- One driving under suspension.
- Four driving without a license.
- Two underage possession and transportation of an alcoholic beverage.
- One inspection violation.
- One possession of drug paraphernalia.
- Three possession of a small amount of marijuana
- One bench warrant.
